Welcome to the homepage of

Andrew & Michael's
African Holiday

Here you'll find some fantastic photos and stories from our holiday in Africa. Hopefully after seeing what a great time we had - you'll want to go to this magnificent continent too! Before this holiday the two of us had never been overseas before. Myself, Andrew, fresh out of university and unsure of my future. My brother, Michael, a tradesman at the local kitchen making company. Two guys with a little money and the itch to travel.

To start with I guess I can give a brief background on why we chose to go to Africa over all the other exotic destinations in the world. We wanted some adventure to start with, to visit a place that still had a bit of mystery and excitement. Of course, everyone always looks at you and says, 'Africa? ... isn't that dangerous?' or a variation upon, when its mentioned that you're visiting the place. That's all part of the excitement. We also wanted to see the continent before it was influenced too heavily by Western civilisation. Some of the last countries on Earth yet to have been invaded by McDonald's are found in Africa!

Initially it was just a spontaneous visit to a local travel agent and a browse through a couple of glossy brochures that were thrust in my direction by an eager sales assistant with dollar signs in her eyes. I hadn't actually seriously considered Africa before that on the spot visit. Then I started to check out some internet sites, then I went to a travel expo and found out as much as we could from several of the 'African specialists' and before long I was booking my flights and desperately seeking out spending money for the two of us! We ended up travelling with Worldwide Adventure Travel and they were great.
A couple of months later we were running around changing money for travellers cheques, packing our bags and heading for the airport...
